Legacy Faculty and Staff,

Tonight we learned, as you have, that Governor Sisolak has asked all Nevadans to stay home and close all nonessential businesses to the public for 30 days. See the Governor’s News conference here.

As a result, all Legacy schools in Nevada will close their campuses completely beginning at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, and will not be staffed, even minimally, until further notice.

Our admin teams will be on campus tomorrow between 7:30 a.m. and noon, and we ask all teachers to pick up essential items from campus before noon (excluding those who have been directed not to report to campus previously or are under a directed quarantine). These items include any materials required to provide remote instruction for students. Please continue to check your Legacy email address as we will be sending you critical information about continuing instruction for students in the coming days.

While we stay at home, all salaried employees will continue to receive their normal pay during the closure.

We know our hourly employees are likely concerned about their pay, and we are actively seeking more information from the state regarding ongoing funding for hourly employees. To that end, hourly employees will be paid for the remainder of this week at their normal pay rate. As soon as we receive clarification from the state regarding pay for the remainder of the closure, we will provide more information — but for right now — everyone should remain “at home”.

As the Governor has outlined, it is imperative that we follow the state’s guidelines and do all we can to limit the virus’ spread. The aim is to allow health care workers and first responders on the front lines to stay well and tend to those in need.

We are committed to being a strong and resilient Nevada school community. Legacy schools are built with an admirable foundation of faculty and staff who understand that the safety, health and education of our most treasured asset, our children, is our mission to accomplish. Together, we will.

Your principals will be in touch with you as we learn more about this developing situation and parents will be emailed tomorrow morning. We’ll send you a copy of that communication when it is sent.

Sincerely,

Eve Breier-Ramos, Ed.D.

Deputy Superintendent, Legacy Traditional Schools – Nevada
